Vodafone Greece has reported a four fold increase in mobile data traffic during this year’s summer holiday season compared to last year.
The company said that the increase is a result of the rapid development of the company’s 4G and 4G+ network coverage both in urban areas and in important tourist destinations.
The largest data traffic was registered in popular tourist destinations, such as Rethymno, where increase in data traffic over the first half of August reached 168% compared to last year, followed by the area of Hania with a 140% increase, Lassithi (137%), Chios (135%), Rodos, Katerini and Veria (118%), Paros, Samos and Preveza with more than 100% increase, Mykonos (108%), Tinos (105%), Santorini (101%), Corfu (92%), and Halkidiki (83%).
A rather significant increase, which attained 178%, was observed in data usage on Vodafone’s network by foreign visitors compared to the corresponding last year period, while most visitors came from the Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Serbia and Russia.
This increase is attributed, both to Vodafone’s network development, and the expansion and promotion of the Vodafone Pas Pantou service, in all countries abroad.
